A Duel of Sorts - Part 2 by Iorek and Dannee, Aug 11, 2007 -- No comments

Part two of Iorek and Dannee's Commented Duel.
A Duel of Sorts - Part 1 by Dannee and Iorek, Aug 4, 2007 -- No comments

Seeing as Iorek and Dannee tend to post a number of card comments on www.kitsdb.com , and they both appreciate each other’s comments, even though they disagree at times, (and sometimes come to blows, but it's ok, they have low revive costs!), they decided it would be nice to feature an article that would be a 'deck duel' along with 'comments duel' on each other’s decks and gameplay.
Deck Building Basics by Toku, Jul 27, 2007 -- 3 comments

My goal for this article is not necessarily to reveal some largely undiscovered tournament tech, or to show off a winning creation. My goal is to take you through the thought processes of building a deck from start to finish; the initial brainstorm, proof of concept testing, revisions, live fire, more revisions, and finally, a semi-finished product.

Top 10 Hero Uncommon Cards by Dannee, Jun 25, 2007 -- No comments

Commons are the backbone of any trading card game, and rares are those card that can give focus to your deck or give you that edge that is sometime needed to win games. Stargate TCG is no different. Where does that leave uncommons? Uncommons are those oft-forgotten middlemen that can give you those cards that will complete your strategy. So what do we have for Stargate? Let's first consider the top ten uncommons on the hero side.
Starting with Daniel by Iorek, Jun 19, 2007 -- 1 comment

Iorek takes the Daniel Jackson Starter deck and expands on it in this Deck Building Article.
Deck Building Series: The Villain Side by Dannee, Jun 15, 2007 -- 1 comment

Finally we'll consider the villain portion of our deck. I consider this portion last because, for the most part, it has no connection with the Hero Side. In rare cases, such as with Mot (Servant of Baal) or Fro'tak (Jealous Rival), your hero and villain portions of your deck interact (and when playing complications, of course) but the villain cards are mostly a strategy of their own, and can usually be carried over from one deck to the next.
Deck Building Series: The Hero Side by Dannee, Jun 8, 2007 -- No comments

We now have our team, the Pacifists, and we chose missions to suit them. Next step in my deck building process is your hero cards.
When to Assign your Characters to a Mission by Raptor, Jun 4, 2007 -- 2 comments

There are two strategies to assigning your characters. One requires planning. The other is based upon double clicking random characters. As I think most of you can handle the latter, let us consider a planned approach.
Deck Building Series: Missions by Dannee, Jun 1, 2007 -- No comments

This is the second article in a series on Deck Building.

Last article in this series we chose 4 team characters as the basis of our deck. Now we're going to need missions to go along with their skills and glyphs to go along with their abilities. Before we dive into choosing missions, though, lets look at each mission type separately.

Deck Building Series: Team Characters by Dannee, May 25, 2007 -- No comments

About 50% of Stargate: TCG is about deck building, so I thought a series of articles revolving around the basics might be good for new players and veterans alike. Since I usually start my deck building with choosing of the Team Characters, I thought this would be a good place to start this series of articles. As always, I hope my ideas are helpful, if not to build your own decks, at least to give you an idea about how it can be done.
Budget Gaming through the Stargate by Chokehold, May 21, 2007 -- 1 comment

Everyone knows that CCG's can cost you a lot of money. Why? Because there will always be that one card you really want for your deck, and always just that one is hard to get, and thus very expensive. And to top that, every 3 months or so, a whole new set will come out that will cringe your wallet even more.

This article gives some practical advice on how to mimimize the damage to your wallet.

Strategy Tips for the New Player by Dannee, May 7, 2007 -- No comments

Repeat after me. There is no such thing as a n00b. There is no such thing as a n00b. Okay, now that we have that down, let's discuss some strategy tips for the player just being introduced to Stargate: Trading Card Game. Yes, there is strategy involved in this game; don't believe anyone who tells you otherwise. Those who say it's all chance, or the game plays itself, simply haven't figured out the strategy yet.
Sealed Deck Strategy (Part 2) by Sooty Heng, Apr 23, 2007 -- No comments

This is part two of a great two part article that contains a wonderful detailed analysis of each starter deck and how you can use the 3 packs you get in a sealed tourney to improve them. A must read for anyone who wants to play in sealed tournies.

Beginner Strategy: Building a Deck Without the Best Cards by Dannee, Apr 15, 2007 -- 1 comment

A common complaint I've seen in Stargate Online TCG, or any TCG and CCG probably, is that you need rare cards to compete and that this prevents beginners from entering the game at an even standing. I would like to disagree, and this article is to show how you can compete even with little to no rare cards. Following are a few strategies for the beginning players.

Card Comments turns three hundred ... and seventeen. by Iorek, Oct 15, 2008 -- No comments

In honor of my 300th Card Comment on Kitsdb, I decided to list the 10 WORST card comments I’ve given. That is to say, when writing the comment, my impressions on the card weren’t quite as accurate as I would come to expect from my evaluations.

Mission Madness by Iorek, Dec 15, 2007 -- No comments

At the beginning of every game, the first action is playing a random mission, out of your twelv... Sorry, have to stop you there... The first action is stopping a team character. After stopping a team character, the next action is playing a random mission, out of your twelv... Nope, wrong again! You draw your starting hand and decide if you want to mulligan. After the opening actions of the game, The beginning of every TURN... ... ok, good... At the beginning of every turn, the first action is playing the top mission, from your randomized stack of chosen missions.

Your Starting Eight by inseeisyou, Nov 10, 2007 -- No comments

The purpose of this article is to foster a little discussion about how to choose whether to draw another eight cards at the beginning of a game. It is the first article I have written, so please leave comments with your thoughts and suggestions.
An Uncomplicated Skirmish by Iorek, Oct 29, 2007 -- No comments

One of the first aspects of any card game is deck building. Luckily for us Stargate Online TCG players, the client provides a nice proving grounds for initial deck design trials and tribulations. As you might have deduced, from the title of this article, I'm referring to the built in skirmish AI option.
Adversaries, What Are They Good For? by Dannee, Sep 8, 2007 -- 5 comments

The Stargate Online TCG scene has changed. Score those adversaries as fast as you can. This article will discuss why and give an example of a strategy for this.
Team Helper Program - V1.1 - Update by Dannee, Aug 6, 2007 -- 2 comments

Team Helper has been updated to version 1.1. This article describes what has changed from the original version.
Team Helper Program by Dannee, Jul 17, 2007 -- 4 comments

What teams can I make that has at least 18 experience and… oh, I don't know… has at least 7 culture, combat, and ingenuity? Normally you'd have to use your own imagination and guesswork to find the combinations. And just sorting by "Team Character with Science = 0" won't always find you all or the best solutions. Maybe you wanted to use someone like Samantha Carter (Problem Solver) in your Pacifist deck, but you might have forgotten about her because the search filtered her out due to her combat.
Top Ten Villain Uncommons by Dannee, Jul 6, 2007 -- No comments

I have to admit it was a lot easier deciding on the top ten villain uncommons for this article than the top ten hero uncommons.
Continuing Down The Road Map For Playtesting (Part 2 of 3) by Cassise, May 29, 2007 -- 1 comment

This article in the series talks about two of the unique elements of deck building in Stargate, the requirement to include at least 20 hero and 20 villain cards in your deck, and the unique twist that the card drawing/running out of cards mechanic adds to the game. In this article I hope to develop two concepts: deck size and redundancy while also hopefully pointing the enterprising deck builder towards another possible deck idea that will utilize these concepts.
Stargate Online Mission Tracker Utility by Derek Halfhand, May 19, 2007 -- 3 comments

I wrote this simple program to let you track which missions you put on top of, or on bottom of deck, it also allows for swapping missions and reshuffling.
Food For Thought: A Road Map For Future Playtesting by cassise, May 15, 2007 -- 1 comment

Here is the first of three ideas that I hope players will look into, be struck by, and implement/test. I am sure not all of these ideas are feasible at the moment (or ever) but I think they offer the next logical progression in the theory and way of thinking about the game. For the most part, these ideas are general methods of play or strategies for approaching a deck. Where I have specific ideas, I have included them.
Advanced Strategy: Choose Your Mission by Dannee, Apr 30, 2007 -- No comments

This strategy is labeled advanced because it takes mostly rare cards to pull off completely, but also because it involves a little finagle. So, you want to choose which mission you'll play, do you?
