This is a deck variation which utilizes the Priest Archetype to put powerful Units into play with which to wreak havoc on your opponent. It is a very basic 52 card deck and is easy to play. It consists of only two types of cards; Abilities and Units.
Originally, this deck was played with the Power Wood Elf, but given recent changes to that Avatar, this no longer helps to facilitate the goal of this deck.
With this deck, you want to try to maintain neutral faction. The basic strategy is to play get your super powerful Units into your discard pile so that they can be Resurrectioned or Reanimated. Cannibalize, Reclaim Energy, and the Severed Paw of Opolla quest are included to provide additional power to enable you to play multiple defensive units and deck manipulation cards in the early game, or get a heavy hitting Unit in play right away to lay siege to your opponent!
The Giant Field Rats are included to provide cheap and easy defense. They are NOT Guardians, so they can accompany your attacking Units and lend their damage bonus when needed. You can't beat their 1 power cost, and since you are trying to maintain neutral faction they should never obtain the penalties in their card text.
Horde Hounds allow you to keep your hand full of cheap cost cards, while allowing you to put your expensive Units in the discard pile (to be Resurrectioned or Reanimated!). You can utilize the Restoration ability on these guys to keep cycling through cards or Ready them for defense. In more ways then one, horde hounds facilitate getting your powerful Units on the table while protecting your Avatar from raids.
Truth Captains pack a punch with their 3 attack. While they don't have much health, the ability to discard to prevent damage works to your advantage by allowing you to place expensive Units in your discard pile (to be Resurrectioned or Reanimated!). They provide the attack while other Units provide the damage bonus. If you have a full hand and are facing stiff opposition, they can always be used as an "immortal" defense.
Truth Patrolmen are a cheap "weenie" Unit which can assist your offense on a raid (they have 1 attack), or act as cannon fodder, protecting you and your more powerful attackers. The extra draw they provide when played makes them well worth the power spent by keeping you in cards.
Furious Berserker is a good high health Unit for the meager price of only 2 power. He gets more Attack as he gets damaged and has the Frenzy trait, so he helps provide a solid offense without tactics, just like the Truth Captain.
Fippy Darkpaw is included for his ability to keep the onslaught going. He has 1 damage bonus so this can be utilized when coupled with your "Truth" Units. In the mid to end game, if you have a Restoration handy, Fippy makes for a very powerful offensive attack!
Howling Frost Giants are somewhat costly at 5 power a piece, but can be reanimated or resurrectioned into play later in the game (if necessary). These guys are part of your primary offense though, and with the appropriate use of Cannibalize, Reclaim Energy, and/or the Severed Paw of Opallo quest you should be able to play them directly from your hand in a timely manner to cripple the defense and add a considerable amount of damage to your offense. Their 4 health ensure they stay in play for a good amount of time. Their Frenzy trait makes them easy to "pump up" just like the Furious Berserker.
Gnoll High Shaman is included not only because he can accompany a raid and provide great damage bonus, but because the card text allows you to clear out an opposing Unit before starting a raid on the opposing Avatar. The Gnoll High Shaman is a good target for Resurrection/Reanimate.
Like Fippy; Lord Nagafen is a Legend, so you can only have one of him in play at any given time, but the beauty of this is that if you want to "move" him to a different quest or "heal" him up, you can just Resurrection or Reanimate another Nagafen card from your discard pile. Nagafen is your primary target for Resurrection and Reanimate. Get him in play in a timely manner and you can dominate the quest he is played to. Beware of cards like Agonizing Wound and use your "fodder" units like Giant Field Rats and Truth Patrolmen to keep him at full health. He will torch most opposing Units in a single attack, and when unobstructed, torch your opponent!
Kylan O'Danos is your secondary target for Resurrection and Reanimate. He is a great Unit in his own right, but when coupled with other Units his ability is sheer brutality. Exert him for damage bonus and all of your other attackers are Readied. This helps provide Fippy with additional support on his second attack, and allows Nagafen to torch on the attack, and be ready as a formidable defense on your opponent's turn! Badass.
Use Intimidate to clear a path to your opponent's Avatar, or put ALL opposing Units in Nagafen's path of destruction.
Use your Divine Auras when you find yourself exposed defensively (remember it is a Hidden card so you can always hold onto it and surprise your opponent at the last moment).
Tranquility serves to protect your Units after they have been exerted raiding. It is also good protection early in the game if you get a very poor draw.
All things considered this is certainly not the most successful deck that can be built, but it is one of the most FUN.
I wouldn't use this deck in a tournament, but when playing casually or against friends nothing says FEEL THE BURN like a massive rampage with a Legendary dragon, or death by rats and some dog named Fippy.

| This concept is even more powerful with cards from expansions released after this article was originally written. Substantially powerful cards such as Equinox and the Gloomwater Mermaid help you to play more high powered cards and control your faction to mitigate taking damage from playing a mixed faction deck. I currently play a variation on this deck which utilizes 4x Dark Vampire. The idea is to get one of these and sufficient attack support to land an attack which can take out your opponent in just one or two attacks. Cards I use now: Dark Vampire - The killer of the deck. Get him in play, protect him, and feed him. He will be doing most of your dirty work; killing your opponent's Avatar. Gloomwater Mermaid - Helps by providing a unit for your Vampire to eat, while being a good target for Resurrection / Equinox, while her ability makes it easy to play high powered cards directly from your deck. Amazing. Equinox - With all of the light cards played (Intercession to protect my Avatar, Gloomwater Mermaid, Resurrection, etc.) this is a great way to restore your faction to neutral, while playing up to two units from your discard pile! Northland Brute - Another way to keep your faction from being 10 Light, with a side benefit of boosting the damage of your attacks! This is also a relatively affordable unit at only 3 power so helps to balance the deck. | |||||||||
